Position: Assistant Principal/ DEI Liaison

STARTING DATE: July 1, 2023 (tentative)

The Secondary (grades 6-12) Assistant Principal/DEI Liaison will serve as a part of the school’s leadership team and report to the building principals. This position is an integral part of the building’s leadership team and will support the overall administration of the secondary campus including all facets of the daily operations of the school. Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is everyone’s responsibility at VCSD. This DEI Liaison will be a partner in coordinating building/district DEI programs/initiatives with principal supervision.

A School District Administrator (SDA), School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS, or School Building Leader (SBL) certificate required. Candidates must have a minimum of 4 years classroom experience; instructional leadership experience is preferred. Candidates must have knowledge of research-based instructional/behavioral strategies, be committed to equity informed practices, trauma informed care and restorative practices, and be able to develop a climate of collegiality and cooperation for parent/guardians, staff, and students.

Position: Dean of Students (DOS)

STARTING DATE: July 1, 2023 (tentative)

The Dean of Students will serve as a part of the school’s leadership team and report to the building principal. The DOS supports the daily operation of the school, specifically in the areas of attendance, behavioral management, disciplinary prevention and intervention services. The DOS works with students, faculty and staff to build and maintain a safe, engaging, and positive school climate.

The Dean of Students must possess and maintain one of the following: New York State certification in teaching, psychologist, social work, or school counselor, and have working knowledge of federal and New York State Department of Education policies and procedures.

Position: Bus Drivers

Drivers work routes for two in-district public schools, and provide transportation for district children going to private schools, to Special Education placements and for district field trips and athletic events on an as-needed basis.
STARTING DATE: Immediately
SALARY: per UEV Contract (between $19.19 and 23.21/hr depending on experience)
HOURS MAY VARY:  Generally from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. September – June.

Position: Bus Monitor

The Voorheesville Central School District has an opening for a bus monitor. Responsibilities include assisting and monitoring students. This person will work under the supervision of the bus driver and transportation supervisor. Person chosen for this position will be required to undergo training on a medical device and take the 10 hour training.

STARTING DATE: Immediately
SALARY: per UEV Contract 
HOURS:  4 hours each day, (2 hours a.m., 2 hours p.m.)
QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school graduate
  2. Ability to pass 19A performance test
  3. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Ability to be flexible, resourceful, and work effectively with  children.
  5. Fingerprint clearance (as required by law).
  6. Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and adults.

Athletics Opportunities

Voorheesville Central School District is accepting applications for fall coaching positions at Clayton A. Bouton High School and Voorheesville Middle School. Experience as a coach in a public high school setting is preferred.

Seasonal practices are usually held daily between 3-5:30 p.m. Coaching credentials, including Coaching CPR/First Aid and Concussion Management, are required. Successful candidates must have physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. All coaches report to the Athletic Director.

The salary for a coaching position is based on the current VTA contract and the applicant’s experience, as approved by the superintendent.

Substitute Opportunities

The Voorheesville Central School District employs substitute teachers through the Capital Region BOCES substitute registry. Download an application form from the Capital Region BOCES Web site.

Applications for support staff substitutes (teacher aides, clerical staff, custodians, food service helper, school monitor, bus drivers, etc.) are accepted on an ongoing basis. Download a substitute staff application or call 518-765-3313, ext. 103.

Current pay rates for substitute support staff positions are as follows: Most positions – including bus drivers, food service helpers, clerical workers, teacher aides, custodial workers, and bus monitors – Step 1 of UEV Schedule.  The nurse rate is $130/day. Please check the pay rate when you apply.

Position: Custodial Workers-Continuous Recruitment

The Voorheesville Central School District has an opening for Custodial Workers. This position is 8 hours/day; Saturdays as needed. The duties of a Custodial Worker include routine cleaning, semi-skilled maintenance tasks, and related work as required.  The position will be under the supervision of the Custodial Work Supervisor II.
