QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. New York State certification as a school administrator/supervisor.
  2. Successful experience as a classroom teacher and public administrator.  Experience with secondary education is preferred.
  3. Knowledge of NYS School Law, SED regulations, curriculum trends, current issues in education and administration.
  4. Experience developing strategies to create a supportive, positive learning environment for staff and students.
  5. Knowledge of curriculum development, special education, the implementation of New York State standards/mandates, and creating an equitable/inclusive environment for all.

Position: Leave-Replacement Social Studies Teacher

The Voorheesville Central School District has one full-time leave replacement Social Studies teacher position available at the CA Bouton High School.  Teacher needed for Sept. 1-Oct. 20 (approximate.)

 Qualifications

  1. Fully certified as a Social Studies 7-12 teacher in New York State.
  2. Special Education experience is a plus.
  3. Experience with secondary-age students is a plus.
  4. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
  5. Good college record and excellent references.
  6. Dedicated to teaching and to students.

      Position: Teaching Aide-Continuous Recruitment

      Substitute Opportunities

      The Voorheesville Central School District employs substitute teachers through the Capital Region BOCES substitute registry. Download an application form from the Capital Region BOCES Web site.

      Applications for support staff substitutes (teacher aides, clerical staff, custodians, food service helper, school monitor, bus drivers, etc.) are accepted on an ongoing basis. Download a substitute staff application or call 518-765-3313, ext. 103.

      Current pay rates for substitute support staff positions are as follows: Most positions – including bus drivers, food service helpers, clerical workers, teacher aides, custodial workers, and bus monitors – Step 1 of UEV Schedule.  The nurse rate is $130/day. Please check the pay rate when you apply.

        Position: Bus Drivers

        Drivers work routes for two in-district public schools, and provide transportation for district children going to private schools, to Special Education placements and for district field trips and athletic events on an as-needed basis.
        STARTING DATE: Immediately
        SALARY: per UEV Contract (between $19.19 and 23.21/hour depending on experience)
        HOURS MAY VARY:  Generally from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. September – June.

        Position: Bus Monitor

        The Voorheesville Central School District has an opening for a bus monitor. Responsibilities include assisting and monitoring students. This person will work under the supervision of the bus driver and transportation supervisor. Person chosen for this position will be required to undergo training on a medical device and take the 10 hour training.

        STARTING DATE: Immediately
        SALARY: per UEV Contract 
        HOURS:  4 hours each day, (2 hours a.m., 2 hours p.m.)
        QUALIFICATIONS:

        1. High school graduate
        2. Ability to pass 19A performance test
        3. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
        4. Ability to be flexible, resourceful, and work effectively with  children.
        5. Fingerprint clearance (as required by law).
        6. Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and adults.

        Athletics Opportunities

        At various times throughout the year, Voorheesville Central School District will accept applications for coaching positions at Clayton A. Bouton High School and Voorheesville Middle School. Experience as a coach in a public high school setting is preferred.

        Seasonal practices are usually held daily between 3-5:30 p.m. Coaching credentials, including Coaching CPR/First Aid and Concussion Management, are required. Successful candidates must have physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. All coaches report to the Athletic Director.

        The salary for a coaching position is based on the current VTA contract and the applicant’s experience, as approved by the superintendent.

        Position: Custodial Workers-Continuous Recruitment

        The Voorheesville Central School District has an opening for Custodial Workers. This position is 8 hours/day; Saturdays as needed. The duties of a Custodial Worker include routine cleaning, semi-skilled maintenance tasks, and related work as required.  The position will be under the supervision of the Custodial Work Supervisor II.  

        SALARY: as stated in the UEV contract.
