Administrative Opportunities
Director of Athletics and Dean of Students
The Director of Athletics and Dean of Students provides leadership and oversight of the district’s interscholastic athletic program while serving as an administrator in the areas of student management, attendance, health services, and wellness initiatives. This position supports the academic, social, emotional, and physical development of all students and serves as a liaison between school programs and community partners. The role includes supervision of faculty and staff, conducting observations, and maintaining effective communication with parents and families.
The successful candidate will report to the Superintendent of Schools and collaborate with administrators and staff to ensure the effective operation of school programs, promote positive student engagement, oversee health and wellness services, and support the mission and goals of the district.
Qualifications:
- A valid NYS Certification as a School District Leader (SDL), School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS), or equivalent administrative certification.
- Demonstrated experience in educational leadership, athletic administration, coaching, or related fields.
- Knowledge of NYSPHSAA and Section II rules, regulations, and best practices.
- Experience supervising and evaluating staff and programs.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of student discipline, attendance procedures, and restorative practices.
- Experience collaborating with school nurses, health professionals, and wellness initiatives preferred.
- Knowledge of budgeting, scheduling, transportation coordination, and facility management.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and positive school culture.

Performance Responsibilities:
I. Athletic/Physical Education Program Leadership
- Act as the department chair for the physical education program.
- Provide leadership and direction for all aspects of the district’s interscholastic athletic program (modified, JV, and varsity).
- Develop short- and long-term goals for athletic programs consistent with district priorities.
- Recruit, recommend, supervise, assign, and evaluate coaches and athletic staff.
- Ensure compliance with NYSPHSAA, Section II, and district policies and regulations.
- Develop and manage the athletic department budget, including purchasing of supplies and equipment.
- Coordinate athletic schedules, transportation, officials, and facility use.
- Represent the district at league, sectional, and state athletic meetings.
- Oversee supervision, security, and operations at all athletic contests and events.
- Promote athletic programs, teams, and student-athlete accomplishments through district communication platforms.
- Serve as liaison between school athletics and community/youth sports organizations.
- Facilitate Athletic Advisory Committee meetings.
- Oversee implementation of the Student Athlete Handbook and Code of Conduct.
- Coordinate athletic physicals, eligibility, and medical clearance procedures.
- Oversee the Learn to Swim and Aquatics program.
II. Dean of Students / Student Management
- Provide leadership in student discipline, behavior management, and restorative practices.
- Coordinate and implement fair and consistent student conduct procedures.
- Work collaboratively with building administrators, counselors, and support staff to address student needs.
- Lead meetings, when necessary, with students and families regarding behavioral, academic, and attendance concerns.
- Supervise student activities, events, and after-school programs.
- Conduct investigations and resolve student issues in alignment with district policy.
III. Attendance Oversight
- Oversee student attendance procedures and interventions.
- Monitor attendance data and trends to support student engagement.
- Collaborate with counselors and administrators to develop attendance improvement plans and support the coordination of communication with families regarding attendance concerns.
IV. Health, Nursing, and Wellness Oversight
- Supervise and coordinate district school nurses and health office operations.
- Ensure compliance with NYSED health regulations and requirements.
- Oversee coordination of student health services and emergency procedures.
- Collaborate with medical providers, athletic trainers, and staff on student wellness.
- Support districtwide health and wellness initiatives for students and staff.
V. Community and Partnerships
- Serve as a liaison between the district and community athletic organizations.
- Support coordination of facility use and collaborative programming with outside groups.
- Build partnerships that enhance opportunities for students and families.
- Foster positive relationships with booster clubs and community stakeholders.
VI. Additional Responsibilities
- Attend school-sponsored activities, functions, and athletic events.
- Collaborate with transportation, facilities, and operations departments.
- Supervise staff as assigned and participate in administrative team initiatives.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.The responsibilities listed above are illustrative and not exhaustive; the position may require additional duties as assigned to support the needs of the district.

Professional Staff Opportunities
Position: Mathematics Teacher
The Voorheesville Central School District is seeking a collaborative, student-centered Grade 8 mathematics teacher for the middle school beginning with the 2026–2027 school year. This is a full-time, probationary position.
The successful candidate will engage students in meaningful mathematics instruction that builds conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and confidence. The teacher will work as part of a professional team to support the academic and social-emotional growth of all learners.
Qualifications
- Must be fully certified in New York State as Mathematics 7-12
- Knowledge of NYS Next Generation Mathematics Standards
- Strong instructional and communication skills
- Middle Level Extension (Grades 5-9) preferred
- Prior experience teaching middle school mathematics preferred
- Experience with differentiated instruction and instructional technology
- Previous teaching experience is preferred.

Support Staff Opportunities
Position: Custodial Worker
The Voorheesville Central School District has two openings for custodial workers. This position is eight hours per day, with Saturdays as needed. The duties of a custodial worker include routine cleaning, semi-skilled maintenance tasks, and related work as required. The position will be under the supervision of the Custodial Work Supervisor II. Salary is and benefits are as stated in the UEV contract. This is a full-time, 12-month position.
Examples of Custodial Worker duties include, but are not limited to:
- Sweeps, mops and waxes floors.
- Washes walls, windows and blackboards.
- Cleans and mops lavatories and locker rooms.
- Assists with snow removal.
- Replaces light bulbs, towels, toilet tissue, soap and other supplies.
- Empties wastebaskets and disposes of rubbish.
- Makes minor repairs to furniture, electrical fixtures, windows and window shades, locks, faucets,heating system and other equipment.
- Receives, moves and stores incoming school supplies.
- Turns off lights and locks doors.
- Performs a variety of errands and related custodial duties as needed.
Qualifications
- High school graduation is a plus.
- Custodial experience is a plus.
- Ability to take and follow directions.
- Willingness to work the schedule that best suits the district’s needs.
- Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
- Good work record and recommendations.

Position: School Nurse Substitute
The Voorheesville Central School District is seeking qualified candidates for School Nurse Substitute positions to provide nursing care during the 2025-2026 school year. Salary for this position is $170.00/day.
Qualifications:
- Licensed RN or LPN.
- Experience in school nursing preferred.
- Excellent health, work habits, and employment attendance history.
- Good college record and excellent references.
- Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
- Fingerprint clearance in accordance with the regulations of NYSED.
General Duties:
- Communicate with parents and staff regarding health needs and concerns.

Transportation

Position: Bus Driver
Drivers work routes for two in-district public schools, and provide transportation for district children going to private schools, to Special Education placements and for district field trips and athletic events on an as-needed basis. Training available for qualified candidates.
Hours may vary: Generally from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. and 2 to 4 p.m.,Sept. – June
This posting is a continuous recruitment for school bus drivers beginning immediately.
Qualifications:
- High school graduation or possession of GED is required.
- Class B license with passenger and school bus endorsements is preferred. Training available for qualified candidates.
- Drivers with CDL Class B permit will be trained.
- Must have a neat appearance.

Position: Substitute Bus Monitor
The bus monitor assists special and general education student(s) while on the school bus, providing supervision to ensure a safe and supportive transportation experience. The monitor works closely with the bus driver to oversee student behavior and safety. Candidates must be willing and able to assist with wheelchairs as needed. Specific training will be provided if required. Shifts are school days only, minimally 2 hours, morning and/or afternoon shifts as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the driver in ensuring student safety at all times.
- Attend all required safety meetings and participate in training, including:
– Emergency evacuation procedures
– Proper methods for loading and unloading
– Supporting students with medical or behavioral needs (e.g., epilepsy, diabetes) - Build positive relationships with students and families; support student management in collaboration with the driver.
- Operate safety equipment, including wheelchair tie-downs and lifts, and follow all emergency protocols.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Must be reliable and able to work all school attendance days
- Completion of Bus Monitor Training Course (provided)
- Ability to work well with children, especially those with special needs
- Background check and fingerprinting required (per state law)
- Must pass a physical performance test

Position: Occasional Substitute Bus Dispatcher
The duties of a Substitute School Bus Dispatcher include assisting in the daily office operational aspects of the school district’s bus fleet such as, answering calls, and communicating with transportation staff. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Transportation Supervisor, or his/her designee.
General Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Receives calls and messages pertaining to the operation of the school bus fleet by 2-way radio and telephone; logs and forwards calls as appropriate
- Dispatches bus fleet and drivers/personnel by 2-way radio or telephone and logs calls as appropriate
