Professional Staff Opportunities

Position: Long-Term Substitute School Nurse – Middle/High School


The Voorheesville Central School District is seeking a qualified candidate for a long-term substitute school nurse in the middle school/high school building to provide nursing care on school days. The position is expected to run through approximately Feb. 1, 2026. Salary and benefits are per the VTA contract.
Qualifications
  1. Licensed RN or LPN
  2. Experience in school nursing preferred
  3. Excellent health, work habits, and employment attendance history
  4. Good college record and excellent references
  5. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position
  6. Fingerprint clearance in accordance with the regulations of NYSED
General duties
  1. Communicate with parents and staff regarding health needs and concerns
  2. Administer medication (as ordered by physician) according to regulations and policy, if needed

The Voorheesville Central School District has one immediate full-time probationary opening for a Spanish teacher at Voorheesville Middle School. Salary begins at $52,701 BA/BS, $55,363 MA/MS per current teacher contract.

          Support Staff Opportunities

          Position: Teaching Assistant – Elementary School

          The Voorheesville Central School District has a full-time probationary opening for a teaching assistant at Voorheesville Elementary School, with a salary range of $21.74 to $25.61 per hour per the current UEV contract. The teaching assistant works closely with classroom and special education teachers.


          Qualifications:

            1. Must be certified as a teaching assistant.
            2. Experience working effectively with elementary school students with a variety of disabilities and special needs is preferred.
            3. Solid understanding of classroom activities and teaching best practices
            4. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
            5. Excellent work habits and employment attendance history
            6. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position
          1. Excellent references
          General duties:
          1. Provide support and supervision to special education students, including support with ADLs.
          2. Assist special education teachers and related service providers in the implementation of students’ individual education plans.
          3. Revise lesson material with students individually or in small groups.
          4. Monitor and assist students in all aspects of the school day.
          5. Ensure the classroom environment is safe and clean.

          Position: Building Maintenance Worker – Elementary School

          The Voorheesville Central School District has a full-time probationary position for a building maintenance worker at the elementary school. This is semi-skilled work involving responsibility for independently performing a variety of mechanical and other building maintenance tasks. Must meet Civil Service requirements. Salary and benefits for this position are as stated in the UEV contract. The hourly rate is $18.94 – $22.32 per hour.

          Qualifications:

          1. High school graduate; applicable training beyond high school is a plus
          2. Willingness to work as needed
          3. Neat appearance (uniform required)
          4. Willingness to work the schedule that best suits the district’s needs
          5. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position
          6. One year of experience in general building construction or maintenance work in one or more of the standard trades, such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical or groundskeeping
          7. Valid NYS driver’s license required
          8. Fingerprint clearance required

          General duties:

          1. Perform semi-skilled work as needed, including but not limited to: masonry, carpentry, electrical, and painting operations; assist with installation and repair of wiring systems and electric fixtures and equipment; repair windows, doors, and floors; interior and exterior painting; assist with installation and repair of general plumbing equipment; operate trucks and other motorized equipment. Experience in sports field maintenance, snow removal, and lawn care is beneficial
          2. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
          3. Hours: Generally Monday–Friday (6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.); may work occasional weekends

              Transportation

              Position: Bus Monitor

              The Voorheesville Central School District has an immediate opening for a part-time bus monitor. The bus monitor assists students while on the bus, provides supervision to ensure a safe bus experience, and works closely with the bus driver to monitor students.

              Salary per UEV contract: $19.35 – $22.80 per hour.
              Hours: 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. (2 hours/day, school days only).

              Qualifications

              1. High school graduate.
              2. Must be reliable and able to work all school attendance days and complete bus monitor training.
              3. Ability to work well with children, including children with special needs.
              4. There will be a background check and fingerprinting (as required by law).
              5. Must be able to pass a physical performance test.

                Responsibilities

              • A school bus monitor assists the driver in ensuring the safety of the students.
              • Bus monitors should understand the duties, roles and responsibilities that the job entails.
              • Monitors will be required to attend safety meetings and participate in training. The training is designed to ensure that their knowledge is up to date with safety standards and other important safety protocols. This includes: evacuations, loading and unloading the school bus, and more.
              • School bus monitors are an important part of the transportation team. They play multiple roles on school buses; they interact with the students as well as their parents, and they may be required to assist with student management issues. The school bus monitor will need to develop these skills to be a successful partner with the school bus driver.
              • The monitor must maintain knowledge of current emergency evacuation procedures.

              Position: Bus Driver

              Drivers work routes for two in-district public schools, and provide transportation for district children going to private schools, to Special Education placements and for district field trips and athletic events on an as-needed basis. Training available for qualified candidates.

              Hours may vary: Generally from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. and 2 to 4 p.m.,Sept. – June

              This posting is a continuous recruitment for school bus drivers beginning immediately.

               Qualifications:

              1. High school graduation or possession of GED is required.
              2. Class B license with passenger and school bus endorsements is preferred. Training available for qualified candidates.
              3. Drivers with CDL Class B permit will be trained.
              4. Must have a neat appearance.
              5. There will be a background check, drug testing and fingerprinting (as required by law).
              6. Physical condition commensurate with demands of the position.
              7. Must be reliable and able to work school attendance days.

              Supervisor will conduct a formal review of performance approximately four months after commencement of employment in this position.

              Position: Occasional Substitute Bus Dispatcher

              The duties of a Substitute School Bus Dispatcher include assisting in the daily office operational aspects of the school district’s bus fleet such as, answering calls, and communicating with transportation staff. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Transportation Supervisor, or his/her designee.

              General Duties may include, but are not limited to:

              • Receives calls and messages pertaining to the operation of the school bus fleet by 2-way radio and telephone; logs and forwards calls as appropriate
              • Dispatches bus fleet and drivers/personnel by 2-way radio or telephone and logs calls as appropriate

              SALARY:  Based on hours
