VCSD Board of Education appoints Barbara Owens to fill vacant board seat at September special meeting

The Voorheesville Central School District Board of Education intends to appoint Barbara Owens of Voorheesville to temporarily fill the vacant seat left by Jim Coffin this past August.

Following Coffin’s resignation, the Board sought candidates for the open position and received seven interested applicants. After careful consideration, the Board selected Owens, an applicant with strong experience working with boards and within the local community.

“One of Voorheesville’s greatest strengths is its sense of community. We see this in the community members who stepped forward during this process, and we are grateful for their support. Our intended new member, Barbara Owens is an exemplification of the pool of highly qualified applicants, and we look forward to her joining us at the next meeting,” said Board of Education President Dr. Rachel Gilker.

The Board will officially appoint Owens at a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
