Ready, Set, Drive. Secure A Spot in Driver’s Education!

 

It is registration time for those interested in Driver’s Education. In order to participate, the student(s) must be 16 years old or older by Jan. 29, 2024, and have a NYS driving permit.

Please read the following information carefully:

The program will run from Jan. 29-June 7, 2024. The class size is limited to 24 students. The first 24 paid students will be accepted into the program.

The cost of the session is $340.00. Payments will be collected starting Nov. 16-Dec. 20, 2023 or when the class is full. Registration will not be taken over the telephone.

Payment options are: pay online at myschoolbucks.com (under “School Store” do not use “Invoice Store”) or with a check made payable to “VCSD” delivered to the high school main office. **NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN AFTER THE SESSION BEGINS.**

Once payment is approved for the spring 2024 program, students will be required to attend a scheduling meeting on Monday, Jan. 22 in room 147 from 3-3:30 p.m. in order to establish driving times. 

Students must plan on attending class consistently; attendance requirements are strict. Any absences should be noted ahead of time with the instructor, if possible. Make-up sessions may be necessary for students who have too many absences to meet requirements. Driving groups will meet after school once per week beginning Monday, Jan. 29, at the following times: 

Mondays: 3:30 to 5 or 5  to 6:30 p.m.
Tuesdays: 3:30 to 5 p.m.
Wednesdays: 3:35 to 5:05 or 5:05 to 6:35 p.m.
Thursdays: 3:35 to 5:05 p.m.

**DRIVING SLOTS ARE LIMITED TO 4 STUDENTS PER GROUP**

All students are also required to attend the classroom portion of the spring session which will be held every Tuesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 30, 2024.

Every student must complete a minimum of 24 hours in the car (six hours of actual driving time; 18 hours of observation), and 24 hours in the classroom. Successful students will receive a New York State “Certificate of Completion” (MV285).
