Middle School Drama Club Presents Frozen Jr. Nov. 21-23

The Middle School Drama Club will take center stage this month with its production of Disney’s Frozen Jr., a musical adaptation of the popular animated film. The story follows sisters Elsa and Anna as they navigate love, fear and the power of self-acceptance in the icy kingdom of Arendelle.

The show will be performed at the Lydia C. Tobler Performing Arts Center (PAC) Friday, Nov. 21, and Saturday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m., with a matinee on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m.

Tickets will be available at the door. Admission is $12 for adults and $6 for students/children. Senior citizens may attend free of charge.

The production showcases the talents of dozens of middle school students, both on stage and behind the scenes. Cast members have been rehearsing for weeks, preparing to bring the beloved characters of Elsa, Anna, Olaf and more to life. Families, friends and community members are encouraged to attend and support the students’ hard work and creativity.

For many students, the experience represents a chance to connect with like-minded people and become part of something bigger.

“I like being with people who like to sing and dance like I do,” said Amelia C., an eighth grader in the Snow Chorus.

Chris U., who is playing Hans and is also an eighth grader, said the friendships formed during rehearsals are a highlight.

“You meet a lot of really great people—your castmates, the student directors, the director, producer, stage crew,” he said. “Everybody becomes a family.

Behind the scenes, Aaron E., a 10th grader, has grown into the role of technical director. He manages sets, props, lighting and projection.

Through the years, I’ve gotten to see how it worked, and then I took over.”

Over the summer he extended his learning and got to see how a Broadway tour works. He even met some Tony winners. He encourages others to get involved, and not just to lighten the load of all he is doing.

“You get to have lots of fun, lots of privileges; you may get a great job someday.”

Disney’s Frozen, Jr. is produced by Sara Martin directed by Steve Suriano with choreography by Frankie Soldevare and musical direction by Brian Axford.

Frozen Jr. is based on the Disney film written by Lee and directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, and features music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.
