Thank you for your service, Middle School Principal Brianna Olsen

This August, Voorheesville Middle School Principal Brianna Olsen will be leaving the district for a new opportunity with the New York State Education Department’s Office of State Review.

Please join us in wishing Mrs. Olsen much success as she takes this next step in her professional career.

As both the middle school assistant principal and principal, Mrs. Olsen has had a meaningful impact on our educational program and our students’ school experience.

“We are grateful to Mrs. Olsen for her dedication and the many significant contributions she has made during her time at VCSD,” said Superintendent Frank Macri. “While she will be missed, we wish her all the best in her new role in support of even more of the state’s students and families.”

Next steps

On Aug. 15, the VCSD Board of Education will hold a special meeting prior to its scheduled retreat to accept Mrs. Olsen’s resignation.

Pending board approval at this meeting, Mr. Bryan Wood will become the interim principal of the middle school for the 2025-26 school year. He will begin in this role on Aug. 25.

Mr. Wood is a veteran educator and administrator, having taught for 25 years prior to entering administration. He has held several leadership positions, including assistant principal, high school principal and, most recently, interim middle school principal for the past three years. Mr. Wood also served as the interim principal of Clayton A. Bouton High School on two separate occasions—first from September 2020 to November 2020 and again from April 2021 through June 2021.

We believe Mr. Wood’s depth of educational experience and strong connection to our district make him an excellent choice for this position, and we are confident that our school and students will be well-supported during this time of transition.
