UPDATE: Hold-in-place lifted at middle and high school

UPDATE (11:25 a.m.) Police have determined that the threatening message found earlier this morning on a middle school bathroom stall door was unsubstantiated. As such, the hold-in-place has been lifted and the school day has resumed as planned.

We thank our students and staff for their cooperation in this situation and the Albany County Sheriff’s Department and State Police for their prompt response. The safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority, so any threat is taken seriously.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked through this situation.

(10:20 a.m.) At approximately 9:50 a.m., a threatening message was found written on a stall door in one of our middle school bathrooms.

District officials immediately contacted the Albany County Sheriff’s Department and all students and staff at the middle and high school were put in a hold-in-place. The police are on their way to the school to investigate. All students and staff are safe.

A hold-in-place means everyone inside the school stays in the classroom they are currently in so that the situation can be assessed and instruction can continue.

We will provide an update as soon as one is available.
