Compassion Makes a Difference

The theme for the VMS seventh grade team is Character Counts

Each marking period students used this year’s TACO acronym to pick a character trait to highlight. Friday was the culmination of their compassion activity.

This is how they fulfilled their endeavor for the three marking periods:

10 students sitting on sidewalk making chalk drawings on a sunny dayThe “T” was for teamwork and students had to work in teams to try and build the tallest tower with only 20 index cards.

The “A” was for acceptance. Students paired up with someone they do not usually spend time with to trace hands and answer questions. The hands were then decorated and added to the team bulletin board in the MS lobby.

The “C” was for compassion and students were challenged to complete compassion activities in April. They ended their team compassion activity by leaving messages of kindness on the sidewalk for students and families to enjoy.

The “O” is still being determined for the fourth marking period activity.
