Clayton A. Bouton High School is piloting a revitalized workforce development initiative to connect students with real-world career experiences. The program offers mentorship, skill development and hands-on learning in partnership with local employers.
The school is inviting business owners to join in preparing students for meaningful, in-demand careers in the Capital Region.
Employers can support students through experiences such as:
- Job shadowing: A student follows an employee at a workplace for one to eight hours to learn about an occupation or career pathway of interest.
- Community service and volunteering: Students participate in volunteer experiences that teach responsibility, community involvement and awareness of the needs of others.
Business owners interested in partnering can complete a short survey here.
Through these partnerships, students gain exposure to workplace expectations and build critical 21st-century skills, while employers have the opportunity to connect with motivated, locally trained future employees.
By graduation, the goal is for students to be college- and career-ready — equipped with the skills, experiences and relationships that will help them succeed in today’s workforce. The school welcomes conversations with business owners interested in participating in the initiative.
The school values the time and expertise of its partners and understands that levels of involvement may change over time.
