Message from the Superintendent: VCSD School Food Pantries

Across our community, many families are feeling the impact of rising costs and financial pressures. Groceries, housing and other daily essentials have all become more expensive, leaving many households facing difficult choices about how to make ends meet. In addition, with the potential pause or reduction of SNAP benefits for some families, we know these challenges may grow even more significant in the coming weeks.

Whether your family receives assistance or simply finds that each month feels a little tighter than the last, please know that help is available—and that you are not alone.

When I was growing up, my family experienced financial hardships of our own. I remember the relief and gratitude we felt when local food pantries and food stamp programs helped us through difficult times. Those experiences taught me that there is no shame in seeking help—only strength in community. They also shaped my belief that a caring community looks out for one another, especially when times are tough.

Many families quietly navigate these challenges every day, often while working hard and doing their best to provide for their children. Please know that there is no judgment or stigma in reaching out for support. Our goal is simple—to make sure every Voorheesville family has what they need.

Our school food pantries are open to any family in need of assistance. There is no application or proof of need required —just confidential, compassionate support from people who care.
