Dec. 30 | Members of the School Community Test Positive for COVID-19

 

The district learned about positive COVID-19 cases on Tuesday evening, Dec. 29th, and Wednesday morning, Dec. 30th.

  • An individual associated with the high school tested positive for Covid-19.
  • An individual associated with the elementary school tested positive for Covid-19.
  • An individual associated with the transportation department tested positive for Covid-19. 

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict the district from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

Please note New York State has adopted the most recent CDC guidance regarding individuals who have potential exposure to COVID. Quarantine for individuals exposed to COVID-19 can end after ten days without a testing requirement if no symptoms have been reported during the quarantine period.

  • Individuals must continue daily symptom monitoring through Day 14;
  • Individuals must be counseled to continue strict adherence to all recommended non-pharmaceutical interventions, including hand hygiene and the use of face coverings, through Day 14.
  • Individuals must be advised that if any symptoms develop, they should immediately self-isolate and contact the local public health authority or their healthcare provider to report this change in clinical status and determine if they should seek testing.

The district continues to follow all prevention protocols in accordance with guidelines from the New York State Department of Health and CDC — this includes a thorough cleaning and disinfecting of all school buildings. All schools will remain open for in-person instruction after the holiday break.
