Whitney Young Medical Center Partnership Rapid COVID-19 Testing

Dear VCSD Community,

Albany County Department of Health has recently announced a partnership with Whitney Young Medical Center for COVID-19 rapid testing for K-12 students who have been excluded from class after showing COVID-related symptoms. Students who receive negative results will need to get a follow-up lab-based PCR test to confirm before going back to school.

There are two sites where students can get tested. The first site is at Albany High School. This location is open on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, and the second site is at Albany County Cornell Cooperative Extension, 24 Martin Rd, Voorheesville. This site is available on Wednesday mornings.

Testing will be done by appointment that will be facilitated by the school district. Albany County Department of Health asks that parents/guardians notify the school that they would like to utilize one of the two clinics to test an excluded child. The school will then require the family to provide the following information to Whitney Young:

  • Child's name
  • Date of birth
  • Gender
  • Parent/guardian name
  • Contact number
  • Address

The above information is the same information on the registration paperwork that the Albany County Department of Health and Whitney Young will need. If you prefer to fill out the forms before sending them to the school, please do so. The school does not require nor want you to place down your insurance card or social security information.

The forms below are what Whitney Young will utilize to schedule an appointment for your child. Whitney Young does have an ethnicity form that they ask potential patients to fill out as a part of their requirements and because the medical center is federally funded. Again, the district only needs demographic information to help schedule the appointment with Whitney Young. Please do not send the forms to Whitney Young.

Please also note below a helpful resource form on quarantining protocols.

We are stronger together, and our success as a school community is due to everyone's ability to adhere to safety protocols. Thank you all for your efforts and continued support in keeping our school community safe.

Sincerely,

Frank Macri
Superintendent
