Nov. 18: Member of the VMS School Community Tests Positive for COVID-19

Dear VCSD Families:

The district learned this morning, Wednesday, Nov. 18, that a member of the Voorheesville Middle School community tested positive for COVID-19.

However, based on the timing of when the individual was last on campus, the Albany County Department of Health has indicated no need for further action, on behalf of the school, to have school community members quarantined .

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict the district from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information, and we cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

The district continues to follow all prevention protocols in accordance with guidelines from the New York State Department of Health and CDC — this includes a thorough cleaning and disinfecting of all school buildings. At this time, all schools remain open for in-person instruction.

If you are not contacted but would like to be tested out of an abundance of caution, please reach out to your healthcare provider or visit the New York State COVID-19 web page to find a testing location near you.

We will continue to work with the Albany County Department of Health and will communicate any necessary updates.

Any additional questions, including information about testing procedures, can be directed to the district office at (518) 765-3313 or the Albany County Health Department (518) 447-4580.

Sincerely,

Frank Macri

Superintendent
