Letter Regarding SNN Text Issues

To members of our community,

I first want to apologize for the difficulties we have had informing all of you about school closings and delays with our SNN system. I want to thank everyone who has expressed their concerns, and know that we are working diligently to find a solution. I wanted to take a moment to share with you what has been happening, and what we are doing to fix it in the future.

Recently, cell phone companies changed the way they treat SNN messages. This change can cause messages, especially text messages, to be delayed or not be delivered at all. These companies have been contacted about the issue, but have said there is nothing they can do.

Going forward, all closings or delays will be published through media outlets. We will still send SNN messages, but please do not rely on them as your sole source of information for closings and delays. The district is exploring its options for reliably and consistently delivering these messages to you in the future.

Thank you again to everyone who has reached out with your concerns. Please know that we are listening and working to make sure you have the most up-to-date information about your schools and your students.
