On October 19, the Board of Education (BOE) hosted a community forum to get feedback on community priorities and tax exemptions under consideration for the 2024-25 school year and beyond. Any exemptions reduce the taxable property value of the district as a whole and increase the tax rate for all non-exempt property.
The forum was well attended, and the district would like to thank everyone who took the time to share their ideas. For those who could not attend, you can view the meeting on the district’s YouTube channel. Community members may still provide comments or ask questions about the proposed tax exemptions by emailing the BOE and Superintendent Frank Macri at email@example.com
While considering community input, the BOE will continue to research all tax exemption issues. Any resolutions for additions or changes to the tax exemptions will be placed on the agenda for the December 4 meeting. State law requires municipalities to make any changes to existing or new exemptions with enough time allowed for taxpayers to apply and be reviewed for approval by March 1.
